Context Description

- Compact dark layer. Compaction may be due to 1960s construction, and substantial concrete slab, was directly above - but also may be packed layer associated with an earlier phase of construction. Cut by construction but [64] for wall (65). Deposit is against wall (68). May be accumulation of occupation material or post construction levelling associated with wall (68). Clay pipe appears relatively early, possibly early 17 th century, but only one bowl recovered.
