  • Barrel vault

Subgroup Narrative

    • Large brick-lined barrel vault, 3.85 by 6.75m. Aligned N-S with brick walls forming a rounded barrel vault above. Vault is capped by a thin layer of sticky brown clay forming a damp-proof layer. A series of brick pads are then built on the vault roof, and probably form the bases for joists carrying the ground floor.
