    • Fill of construction cut [64]. Contains lots of building debris. Poorly defined extent in places. Vertically truncated by construction of existing 1960s building and therefore construction level of construction cut is lost.

    • Construction cut for brick wall (65). Same truncation event as [71] to south. Cuts (66) and rubble layer (70). Vertically truncated by modern existing concrete / building and the original construction level of the wall has been destrroyed.

    • North - south orientated brick wall. Vertical truncation by modern construction makes interpretation difficult, especially in small eval trench. To south it has collapsed into drain (72), but appears to continue to south in section. East - west aligned buttress on west side of wall appears to be part of same build, but seems along north and sour faces hint at possibility of it in fact being an earlier build. Bricks and mortar look superficially similar to the main wall and coursing appears to be continuous over the top of both sections. - although heavily truncated. I think foundation trench [64] was dug, revealing earlier wall (68) - which was truncated. The small buttress feature, which is at least 1 course deeper than the rest of the well, was built against (68) to shore it up. Then the rest of of N-s wall (65) was built, bridging over drain (72). Date of wall is unclear, could be part of late 18th century construction of cresent, or could be an earlier phase of construction.

    • Compact dark layer. Compaction may be due to 1960s construction, and substantial concrete slab, was directly above - but also may be packed layer associated with an earlier phase of construction. Cut by construction but [64] for wall (65). Deposit is against wall (68). May be accumulation of occupation material or post construction levelling associated with wall (68). Clay pipe appears relatively early, possibly early 17 th century, but only one bowl recovered.

    • Compact dark layer, possibly same as (66). Abutts wall (68) and under floor (69). Make up / levelling for floors and surfaces associated with building /wall (68). Mixed dump deposit with building material inclusions. Not excavated.

    • East - west orientated wall. Post medieval wall, possibly of 17 th century date. Trunc by - [64] to east and vertically by modern activity. Associated with brick floor (69) to south. Constructed on rubble levelling dump (70).

    • Brick floor. Purple red bricks with yellow inclusions have burnt appearance. Floor is associated with wall (68) and possibly represents internal surface. Bricks measure c. 100 mm wide, but length and height unknown (feature not excavated). Extends int section to south and west. Truncated to north and east. Possibl internal surface of 17 th century (?) date.
