Mike Johnson has worked in commercial archaeology for eight years, since graduating from Durham University with a BSc in Archaeology. After a year of commercial archaeology, he went back to school to do a MSc in GIS at the University of Edinburgh. Mike has worked on a variety of rural sites across the UK. Initially employed as a digger, he gained as much experience with survey as he could through informal on the job training.
Mike started working for L – P : Archaeology in 2013 as a digital specialist. He provides in house support on GIS and produces figures for reports. The majority of his time is spent working on the Archaeological Recording Kit (ARK). This meshes very nicely with his research interest in data presentation with GIS, and now has him engaging in other issues such as linked data and ‘public archaeology’.
